California travel album [graphic]. 1919.

Album of good quality amateur photographs taken during a trip through California in 1919. Landscapes, cityscapes, public buildings, and landmark attractions predominate, with two male traveling companions present in some views. Early views include trains and the ferryboat Solano on San Francisco Bay. Among the locations depicted are San Francisco (including many photos taken in Golden Gate Park, as well as a Victory Loan parade), Berkeley, Oakland, Mt. Tamalpais, Mt. Shasta, Monterey, Santa Barbara, Los Angeles and vicinity, San Diego and Yosemite Valley. Of note are good urban panoramas and street views of San Francisco, numerous Spanish mission views, crowd scenes at the Venice Bathing Suit Parade and cast members of the film Soldiers of Fortune (1919, directed by Allan Dwan) on location in San Diego's Balboa Park. The album concludes with a few views of Portland, Oregon, and one of Victoria, B.C.
